Allumeria Biomes
Each biome is a chapter, not a new grass colour.
Infinimelon treats a biome as a full vertical chapter: new enemies, ores, tools, dungeon, and boss. Early Access 0.15 ships three major biomes. The forest is the tutorial continent. Snow is the cold gear check. Desert is the palladium ceiling. Under those sit cave layers, the Undergrowth, beaches at the world edge, and leftover sub-spaces. This page is a travel guide, not a pixel-art tour.
Forest (start)
You always begin in forest. Expect oak, birch, maple, lakes, surface flint, coal boulders, copper in stone, and the two Forest Dungeons per world. Outdoor nuisances include Fuzzies, Hogs, Pukekos, and night Zombies, Skeletons, Wizards, and Nightflyers. Heart Beets hide in caves. This is where the getting started guide and Forest Dungeon walkthrough happen.
Forest tools and Forest Armour are the mid-chapter set, not the finish. Undergrowth Rock under the woods needs the Forest Pickaxe. Bioluminescent algae can light water. Bomb Berries and cotton start here if you farm.
Snow
Snow dropped in the 0.9 line and is absent from the forest-only demo. Copper is scarce. Gold is more common. Cobalt is the new tool metal. Sapphire generates underground. Surface mint plants, snow cabins in caves, Ice Torches, and pine complete the postcard.
Hazards: permafrost applies Freezing, slows you, and deals damage. Icycles drop and freeze. Ice Fuzzies, Snowmen, Snow Wizards with homing shots, and Yetis (30 damage, 40 health) patrol. The Snow Dungeon uses the large structure system and hosts the Snow Spirit ritual (two Big Snowballs plus Evil Tophat). Read the boss guide before you place the hat “to see what happens.”
Bring cobalt-level gear, Water Walking or careful ice pathing, and a Returning Potion. Paint a colour trail so the white noise does not erase your exit. Building colour tricks work here more than anywhere.
Desert
Desert is the third 0.15 chapter. Palladium is described as the final metal tier for this Early Access slice. Quicksand is the surface tax. Expect dry grass, bushes, agave, small and large cactus (with flower chance), and a tower dungeon: climb, open the roof, grab paragliders, summon a giant worm, and dive. Cactus Swords exist if you want a joke weapon that still cuts.
Do not enter desert in copper. Use the progression checklist and the tools progression page so palladium is a reward, not a corpse marker.
Caves, Undergrowth, beach, core
Caves are the real highway. They wind, open into caverns, and used to stop at y=32; they now bounce upward instead of dying at a layer. Lava pools, rare gems, Amethyst, and crate-filled mineshafts (reworked with loot, rooms, and a trap) live below. Stone Monsters and other underground wildlife hit like surface night mobs with worse lighting.
Undergrowth sits behind Undergrowth Rock. Bring the Forest Pickaxe. Dynamite will not substitute. In 0.15 it is a full 3D biome with fog, particles, and a mossy rock-monster variant plus the Crazed Miner. Lava at the bottom throws thick red fog if you stand close. Enemies there drop thorns used in Forest Ingots. Undergrowth Crates remain a loot hook, not the whole chapter.
World edges transition into ocean and beach, reserved for later content. A “Core” layer appears in item names such as Curse of the Core; treat deep hazards as experimental Early Access space, not a finished hell dimension.
Travel kit
Gecko Gloves, Paraglider, Jet Boots, Scuba Helmet, and Boots of Sprinting change how biomes play. Rank them on the trinkets list. Multiplayer hosts should tell guests which biome the session is in; a demo friend cannot meaningfully join a snow hunt. See demo vs full game and multiplayer.
When you change biomes you are changing chapters. New grass is the least important part. New ore, new dungeon key, new boss ritual, new way to die: that is the checklist. If a patch adds a fourth major biome, it will come with the same homework, not a tinted forest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many biomes are in Allumeria Early Access?
Steam lists three major biomes for 0.15: forest, snow, and desert, plus cave layers and the Undergrowth.
Where do I find cobalt?
Snow. Copper is scarce there and gold is more common. Craft cobalt tools before the Snow Spirit.
What is palladium used for?
It is the desert metal tier in 0.15, intended as the top Early Access ore set. Farm it after forest and snow chapters.
Why can I not blow up Undergrowth Rock?
After 0.13 it resists explosives. You need the Forest Pickaxe from the Forest Dungeon chest.
