Crafting in Allumeria
Stations, shortcuts, and the recipes that unlock dungeons.
Crafting is how Allumeria turns a pile of flint into a dungeon kit. You will use four stations over a normal Early Access run: the inventory panel, the Workbench, the Furnace, and later the Potion Station plus Decoration Station. This page is the practical recipe route, not a dump of all five hundred unique items. Pair it with getting started on hour one and the tools progression page when you start swapping pickaxes.
Inventory versus Workbench
Press E. The right side of the screen shows recipes you can finish with items already in bags. Logs become Planks here. Planks become a Workbench. Place the bench and right-click it for tools, weapons, armour, buckets, and most trinket crafts. If a recipe is greyed out, you are missing a counted ingredient, not a hidden skill. Five Flint plus five Planks is the first tool gate. Make the Flint Pickaxe before the Flint Sword if daylight is still high; make the sword first if the sky is already orange.
Shift-click crafts one item into inventory. Hold right-click to repeat. Shift + right-click batches into inventory. Those binds are listed again in controls because they save more time than any speed potion on day one.
Furnace: no fuel loop
A Furnace costs eight Stone and two Coal. Place it like furniture. Smelting Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, Cobalt, or Palladium ore into ingots does not eat extra fuel. Coal in the recipe is a construction cost, not a running cost. That is the opposite of several other voxel games, so do not hoard every coal lump for “later smelting.” Spend coal on Torches (Coal + Planks) and Ice Torches in snow.
Forest Ingots in 0.15 take thorns instead of gold. Farm thorns from Undergrowth and Forest Dungeon enemies, then smelt the forest set. Ice-adjacent ingots still come from snow loops rather than a surface copper vein. You still smelt where the recipe says so. Allumerium ore is the odd one: it is not a tool metal. Do not burn a stack expecting Allumerium armour; it feeds token value and late crafts instead.
Early recipe ladder
- Logs → Planks → Workbench and Door.
- Flint + Planks → Flint Pickaxe, Axe, Sword, and a Wood Bow if you want range.
- Coal + Planks → Torches. Place them, then replace dirt floors with Planks so night mobs cannot spawn. Spawn rules are in the building guide.
- Stone + Coal → Furnace. Copper Ore → Copper Ingots → Copper Pickaxe, Sword, Bow or Crossbow, and Copper Armour pieces.
- Iron and Silver repeat the same pattern with better numbers. Gold is plentiful in snow; copper is scarce there. Cobalt is the snow metal. Palladium is the desert metal in 0.15.
Buckets hold water or lava. Sponges and Lava Sponges clean mistakes. Rails and Minecarts appear once you have metal to spare. Do not craft a Fart Gun or Baguette as your first copper dump; they are fun, they are not a Forest Key substitute. Rank goofy weapons after you have a real pickaxe using the weapons tier list.
Potions, farming, and food
The Potion Station unlocks mixed flasks: Health, Weak Health, Regeneration, Speed, Mining, Returning, Flight, Poison, Water Walking, Armoured, Crate. Returning Potions are common in crates after 0.13, which makes deep cave deaths less punishing. Farming uses Farmland, Sprinklers, Cotton, Bomb Berry seeds, and similar crops. Fish (Catfish, Walleye, Crystalfin) cook into fillets. None of this replaces armour, but it stretches a dungeon attempt.
Heart Beets are not a station craft. Eat them to raise max hearts toward ten. Farm them when you already have a cave lit, not during the first sunset.
Dungeon-gated crafts
Forest Keys open forest doors and are consumed. Forest Ingots feed the Forest Hammer, which you need to hammer forest dungeon bricks after 0.13 (this stops cheesing mechanics). Forest Pickaxe is chest loot, not a starting recipe; it breaks Undergrowth Rock. Jelly Spoon is assembled from spoon fragments that Forest Dungeon enemies drop so you can walk through Forest Jelly.
Ominous Deer Skull costs ten Skull Fragments at a Workbench and summons the Forest Spirit. Snow Spirit uses two Big Snowballs plus an Evil Tophat on the dungeon spawner; that is a placement ritual, not a furnace craft. Both fights are written in the boss guide.
Decoration Station and Paint Roller are how bases stop looking like a crate of grey brick. Paint any block. Paint a light and the emission tint follows. That is cosmetic until you care about screenshots; it is still worth one copper afternoon.
When recipes stall, you are usually in the wrong biome. Check the biomes guide and the progression checklist. If you are sharing a world, craft spare pickaxes before you open Host Multiplayer; the multiplayer guide is not a substitute for a second Flint Pickaxe.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does the Allumeria furnace need fuel?
No. After you spend coal to build the Furnace, smelting ingots does not burn extra fuel. Use leftover coal on torches.
Where do I craft the Flint Pickaxe?
Place a Workbench and right-click it with at least five Flint and five Planks. The getting started guide walks through the first bench.
How do I craft the Ominous Deer Skull?
Combine ten Skull Fragments at a Workbench. Use it to spawn the Forest Spirit. Fight notes are in the boss guide.
Why can I not make gold tools in the forest?
Gold is more common in snow, and copper is scarce there. Follow the biomes guide instead of grinding the wrong hills.
